Hello everyone and thank you for your time in visiting our website that details the research project we are conducting. We appreciate your interest and hope that you will participate in the study by creating video diaries discussing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences as the family member of a registrant living on the sex offender registry.
We understand that life associated with the sex offender registry is difficult, and that individuals who are associated with the registry, through their loved ones, often desire to share their stories but don’t always have an outlet to do so. We would love to hear your stories and we hope that you share them with us.
On this website, you will find links to information that you will need to participate in the study. You can learn more about the study’s purpose, the informed consent process, how to maintain confidentiality, and how to record video diary entries.
At this time, the study is open to anyone related to a registrant, but not the registrants themselves. We will be extending an invitation to registrants at a later date. If you are a registrant’s spouse or significant other, their child, sibling, or other relative, you are eligible to participate, and we hope that you do. For example, if your entire family wants to participant, we welcome you to do just that. This is not limited to one response per household. Everyone has different experiences and thoughts to share, and we want to hear them all.
Furthermore, this study is not limited to just those who are associated with Texas Voices: For Reason and Justice. If you know someone who is also related to a registrant, please send this link to them. We would love for them to be able to participate as well. Just to clarify, there are no state restrictions in terms of who can participate. You can live anywhere and still participate in the study.
If you have any questions, at any point in time, please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help with whatever you need. Our contact information is listed in the “Contact the Researchers” tab located at the top of the website.
